A little about the Temple
Watpa Luangta Bua Yannasampanno forest monastery is situated 37km.outside of the town of Kanchanaburi in the province of Kanchanaburi. Constructed in 1994 to promote Buddhism & to help conserve the forests & wildlife.
The Temple houses many different types of animal that have been rescued or abandoned but is most famous for its
Tigers & for its breeding program of the Tigers. The very first Tiger cub to come to the Temple was a rescued cub
saved from some horrible treatment by a Bangkok businessman. This cub unfortunately did not survive its previous miss treatment despite the care given it at the Temple, but it started something that has grown into an amazing project. Shortly after the first cub died local villagers bought to the Temple 2 new cubs who's' mother had been killed by poachers & they had been left to die in the forest. These 2 male cubs named Saifah (Thunder) & Payu (Storm) were only 2 weeks old. Today the Temple cares for 10 adult Tigers & has 4 new young Tigers that would never have been here if it were not for the Temples constant love & care of all its resident animals.
Upon arrival at the Temple there is a 600 Baht entrance fee, plus a fee of 50 baht if you require to take photo's This money goes towards the upkeep of all the animals at the sanctuary, & towards the development of the new Tiger sanctuary park.
