Elephant Trekking.
An exciting and exotic part of KTC-02 where you get the opportunity to experience nature from the heady height of an elephants back. Fording rivers, trekking through some truly beautiful forest & natural scenery you will experience Thailand & Kanchanaburi in a way you could not hope to
achieve in any other way. Get to know your elephants character & enjoy
doing something completely different, this is really quite an exciting part of
our tour & we always get very good positive feedback from it.
Experience the frills of Elephant Trekking with KTC-02 tour.
Bamboo Rafting.
A fun, wet, much loved part of this tour is the Bamboo rafting down the
river Kwai Yai. Floating a bare few inches above the level of the water
on a sturdy built raft made of bamboo you will get a river view that
you cannot achieve in any other way or form, being so close to the
surface of the water gives you a perspective completely different to a
normal boat & the fun filled time spent on this part of the tour will be a
much remembered & much cherished unique memory of your time
spent here in Kanchanaburi.
Experience it with the KTC-02 tour.
Hellfire Pass
Located 80 km N. W. from the city of Kanchanaburi the Hellfire Pass & Memorial museum was set up as a jointThai/Australian government combined project in 1994. The site was chosen for its particularly horrific part played during the Japanese occupation in WW2. A huge number of allied & local prisoners died during the building of this small stretch of the Death Railway.
The Museum is situated at this section of the railway, & offers a clear& detailed education on what happened here during the war years, it is a must see
if you are wanting information on what went on in this area during the WW2. It
also offers several different walking routs along the original track. Stout walking boots, sun protection & plenty of water are advised if taking the longer walks.
Krasae Cave & Wooden Bridge
A spectacular section of the Death Railway running along side of the mountain side. Constructed by the local & allied POW's,this part of the railway has to
be one of the most interesting sections still in commission today, crossing it
by foot or indeed by train this wooden bridge is quite an engineering eye
opener. You will hopefully also enjoy the great views offered by the mountain & river scenery at this location. Nestled into the mountain side right besides
the railway tracks you will find & explore the Krasae Cave. With several interesting Buddha images & rock formation these two sights are well
worth taking the time to see & add to the over all fun & experience
of KTC-01 full day tour.
Death Railway
Travel along the Death Railway by local train, (built between1942-1945)
from stations end at Sai Yok Noi,over the Wooden Bridge, all the way back
to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai into Kanchanaburi itself.
You will experience the genuine route that the POW's gave their lives building meter by meter through, what was then, thick jungle full of danger & disease, now of course it is perfectly safe & the only discomfort is the knowledge that
so many gave so much to accomplish this modest length of railway. It is a beautiful experience & we feel an important part of the offered tour. The train ticket cost is included within the purchase price of the tour. The Death Railway is an important part of Kanchanaburi history, don't miss it with KTC
The Bridge over the River Kwai
Construction of the bridge (1942-1943 bombed successfully by the RAF. 1945) by local & allied POW's during WW2. as part of the infamous Death Railway, made famous by the 1957 movie (Bridge over the River Kwai)
staring Alec Guinness, the Bridge over the River Kwai is now a major tourist attraction in this area & brings visitors all year round from all over the world.
If visited during the last weeks of November each year the Bridge
light & sound show festival is an extra added bonus! You will get to walk across this small part of history & get the feel of the place on a much
more personal level. The Bridge just has to be seen whilst you visit Kanchanaburi, so all the KTC full day tours include the Bridge.
